Gain Insight On How Genetics May Impact Medications

Here's how Genesight testing works:

  1. Sample collection: a DNA sample, typically through a cheek swab or a saliva sample is collected by the provider or with an at home kit, sent to the lab for evaluation.

  2. Genetic analysis: the test looks at certain genetic markers and variations in genes that are known to affect how the body processes medications used to treat mental health conditions.

  3. Report generation: based on the genetic analysis, a personalized report is generated for the patient and their healthcare provider.

  4. Treatment planning: the healthcare provider can make more informed decisions about which medications are most likely to work well for the patient. They can also consider alternative treatments or adjust dosages accordingly.

Genesight testing aims to optimize the medication selection process, potentially reducing the trial-and-error approach often associated with psychiatric medication treatment. It's important to note that while Genesight testing can provide valuable insights, it is just one tool in the broader context of mental health treatment. It should be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation, patient history, and ongoing monitoring to make comprehensive treatment decisions.

Billing and insurance: Medicare and Medicaid and many commercial insurances cover the testing in full. Learn more about the cost at www.genesight.com or call 866-757-9204.

* non-established patients will be charged a $25 fee for order and report.
